Productive Weekend and I Did Not Cry

My eyes welled up and my nose got a bit sniffley, but I did not shed a tear.  I guess I need to back up a bit.  It was a very busy weekend.  We’ve just about finished with the paint touchups and yard cleanup so the house will look great next week when it finally goes on the market.

We had put the waverunners on Craigslist about a month ago and had not had any interest until Thursday.  A guy contacted us and I called him back that evening.  It turns out that he has a slightly older Yamaha and his brother is interested in buying a pair for his family.  They both work in law enforcement in another town nearby.  They came to our house on Saturday to check them out, and they seemed to like them but didn’t make a commitment at that time.  I told them that I was going to repost it at a lower price but he was still hesitant.  I was ready to sell them.  Well, 10 seconds after Gin posted it Saturday night, Eric called me to say that he and his wife talked it over and agreed to buy them.  A verbal commitment is a relief to me.  We’ll take care of the details this week.

Remember the Miata?  I just couldn’t bring myself to put it on Craigslist until Saturday night.  Gin posted it after I made the deal on the waverunners and in less than 2 hours, it was sold (verbally).  Brian came out here this afternoon with his “20 something” son and gave me a check but mostly, cash.  Since he lives quite a distance away,  he was ready to drive it home.  I felt comfortable with this and once again, we will work out the details during the week.  I asked Gin if we should get the camera for a photo with the new owner driving away, and she thought it was best to remember her as ours.

Since I started the day by washing the Miata one last time, I ended the day by washing the Suki.  It was kind of my way of mourning.  We had that car for 16 years and we took good care of her.  She will be missed.  Brian said that he could tell that she was special just by talking with me on the phone last night.  I think the car is going to a good home so I’ll get over it.  It’s a huge step towards our goal of fulltiming.

I want to welcome the latest followers at this time. Karin is retired and moved to Tucsan from Indianapolis.  She’s looking forward to fulltiming in 16 months.  Phil has a great way to tell his stories.  We met him at the RV-Dreams Rally in April.  I look forward to checking in on them occasionally.

House Prep

We’ve been a little busy the past few days with getting the house ready to put on the market.  Gin spent some time caulking while I washed the windows and dusted the cobwebs from the walls.  Too bad I had to go to work over the weekend while she spackled the holes that were left when we took down some wall hangings.  She then did some touch up painting too.  She’s got this place looking real good.

 

We had two different real estate agents here yesterday to get a little input and decide which one we wanted to list our house with.  They liked the way it was cleaned up and clutter-free.  They both thought they could sell our house but it just depends on how it’s priced.  This house was custom built for us in 2000 and has many elements of universal design (handicap accessible).  We know we paid a little more for it than it was worth so we doubt that we’ll get that price.  We’ll get an appraisal in a few days and go with it. 

Our house is not really a good family style house but it is a good house for a more mature couple.  One of the agents is actually working at a new upscale 55 plus development.  We decided to go with her since she will have access to the clientele  that would be apt to buy our house.  It’ll be on the market soon.  Wish us luck!

Before the Wedding

(I’ll be doing two posts for this date...I finally posted the Wedding/Reception post so please read on)

It was nice to come home to the MH and relax in our own familiar surrounding and sleep in our own bed.  Gin was worn out from the festivities last night so she lounged on the couch while I went to visit with Mom and other family members at her house.  Remember that I mentioned the Frisbee Dog competition?  Well it was held at the park just a couple of blocks from Mom’s house.  This nice MH actually stayed at the RV Resort last night.

 

The owner of the dogs travels 48 weeks out of the year and has different trainers joining him for the competitions and shows in different areas of the country.  Now that’s some serious Frisbee Dogs!  Here’s some of the competition.

 

My other nephew Jeff and his wife Becca are here from Colorado with their two daughters.  My sister Virginia can’t get enough of her granddaughters.

 

This is a busy weekend in Roanoke Rapids.  They are holding an event in downtown and have blocked off the streets near the church where the wedding is to be held.  I decided to check by there on my way back to the MH to see if I could still park near the church.  As I turned around in the street, I noticed two people dismounting from a nice touring motorcycle.  It turned out to be JC and Bev who are staying at the Thousand Trails RV Park on Lake Gaston which is only a couple of miles from the family water front spot on the lake.  We were parked beside them last month at the RV-Dreams Rally.  Talk about your small world moments!
