Nice Unexpected Guests and Relaxing Drizzle

Sunday was a busy day with people leaving the cg.  Gin’s folks decided to leave also instead of waiting until Monday so we were visiting with them at their site before lunch.  When I went back to our MH, there was a note tucked in our door from Cynthia and Ronnie.  They follow our blog and were spending the weekend at their 5er which is set up in Page Place, a nice seasonal park across the road.  I gave them a call and they came back over for a visit.

Small world moment, it turns out that they live about 10-11 miles from our house in Fuquay-Varina.  Even smaller, Gin’s brother lives in Page Place right beside their weekend getaway.  They know Butch but had not put the two of them together as siblings.  We enjoyed chatting with them for a while.  Cynthia has recently retired as a teacher and Ronnie has over 33 years in with his company so he’s getting close.  They had recently visited with Gail and Rick to glean a little info about the fulltime lifestyle.  They want to get a MH in the near future to join the ranks.  We encouraged them to go to an RV-Dreams Rally to meet others who want to enjoy the freedom that only fulltime rving offers.

Today started slowly for us but we decided to go to the shore for a couple of hours.  We even took grumpy little Smudge with us and let her get her feet dirty in the sand.  No pictures because it was very overcast.  As a matter of fact, it began to rain as we drove back to camp and will probably rain for the next two days.  I feel a pajama day coming up real soon.

A Day on a Boat

Friday is the beginning of a weekend at most campgrounds and this area is no exception.  Gin’s cousin Pam joined us in the afternoon and we hung around the cg and visited with Gin’s folks.  The real treat came today when we rode over to Emerald Isle to see Gin’s cousin Tony (Pam’s brother) and his wife Margaret.  They have a very nice mobile home on the island with nice landscaping and a great screened in deck.  They also have a wonderful deck boat and Tony took us out in the Intracoastal Waterway for an afternoon of fishing and relaxing.  Tony and Gin each caught about a dozen hand-sized fish so no keepers.  Pam and I just relaxed and soaked up the beauty of the day.  Here’s Tony, Gin and Pam who were close buddies growing up.

We weren’t the only ones out there enjoying the waves.  Here’s a few other boats anchored near the channel at the Hwy 58 bridge to Emerald Isle.

There were big sailboats and yachts enjoying the day also.  I know there are people who live on these nice boats but I’ll just keep my feet planted on the ground.

Oh no!  Don’t run into each other!!

 

Since there were no fresh fish to fry, we enjoyed a steak on the grill back at camp with Gin’s folks.  What a nice way to wrap up a wonderful day!

Oh, we did have an offer on the house, but they wanted it for “free”.  We’ll hold on to it for a little while longer since we’re having showings about every other day right now.

That's right.  We are here again at one of our favorite getaways.  We spent a week at the house getting it ready for Fall so that someone will fall in love with it and buy it.  We actually had 3 showings last week after a dry spell so keep your fingers crossed.

The cg is full.  Since it went to the reservation system, it stays full.  It may have something to do with the "Mullet Festival" this weekend in nearby Swansboro.  No it's not a celebration of the popular haircut back in the 1980's (think Billy Ray Cyrus).  Mullet is a type of fish so it's going to be sea food, beach music, and people.  Too many people for us to join in.  I think we'll relax at the beach, find a new place to launch the kayaks, and spend time with Gin's folks.  They needed a few days away from home to relax before surgery and the move.  It's been beautiful weather lately so we plan to enjoy and relax.
