Wanda and 2011

Stix n Brix
Clayton, NC

Wanda didn't stay at the shop for long.  We picked her up about 24 hours after we had dropped her off.  I'm happy with Gregory Poole.  When they did the brake recall work a few weeks ago, I got the impression that they were a professional organization.  Remember that noise in the right front wheel?  Well John took her for a couple of test drives and determined that "the wheel simulator needed to be repositioned."  Translation..."the hubcap was put on wrong."  No charge for that, and the charge for the oil change was reasonable.  If we're still in the area next year, I'll go back to them for service.

I never have understood why people celebrate so much on New Year's Eve.  I know it's a time of retrospection and anticipation, but what does that have to do with over-indulging?  I like a nice quiet welcome of the New Year myself.  Other than starting this blog and solidifying our full-timing plans at the RV-Dreams Rally last April, 2010 doesn't seem that eventful.  We have taken a few baby steps towards that goal but 2011 should be a really big year if all goes as planned.  After the rally this coming April, We'll sell the waverunners, Miata, furniture, and have a couple more yard sales.  The rest will be donated or thrown away.  We hope to do all this by July.  The house will go on the market in May or June after it gets cleaned up a bit.  The biggest event planned for us in 2011 is my retirement on August 1.  Shortly thereafter, we'll hit the road and hope the house sells soon so we can put some miles under our belts.

I guess when I think about it, we do have some reasons to celebrate.  It'll just be a quiet "Happy New Year" and early to bed.  I have to get up at 4:00am to get ready for another day at work.  Let me take this time to wish everyone a Safe and Happy New Year!

Just thought I might mention that we also travel with 2 kayaks and 2 bikes! So of course it caught my eye.

Looks like it is going to be a busy and productive new your! Keep us posted on your progress. I find reading about others gives me a bit of motivation to get more done.

Happy New Year ...

We will be sleeping by ten!

Happy New Year to you both!!

I agree with the nice quiet celebration.

We have so much to look to in 2011. We all have a lot to get done, but what an exciting adventure :0))

Happy New Year to you too! I know the steps seem small and inconsequential, but everything you do towards your dream is progress and all those small pieces add up to some pretty monumental steps. And some of the biggest progress may not be visible but are just as important as the tangible ones, such as your mindset. Here's to a very happy 2011!

You have a very full year coming up and it will go so fast you'll be wondering what happened.
I agree completely on the quiet, low-key celebration. This was the first year I stayed awake until midnight in many years! Still not sure how that happened :)
Happy New Year to you both!

PS: Loved the "hubcab was put on wrong"! Isn't it wonderful when something you thought was going to cost you money ends up being free? :)

We've always been into quiet New Year's Eve celebrations too. We're lucky if we wake up from the couch just in time to see the ball drop. We met you at the 2010 rally, and look forward to seeing you again at the 2011 rally.

Happy New Year!

We almost didn't make it to the ball drop, but were able to keep the lids up just long enough.

It was nice to wake up refreshed instead of hung over like so many other must have. Quiet is wonderful. ;c)

So glad the noise was just your hubcap, I've seen that before too. Great that there was no charge, a good start for the new year.

I feel for you with the 4 am wake up, I know how that feels. Hope that your thoughts on 1 August gives you strength to keep going.

All the best to you both in the New Year!
