House Prep

Stix n Brix
Clayton, NC

We do still exist.  It’s been a while since I’ve posted.  Gin and I share just about everything so I made sure that she had that crud of a cold for a couple of weeks too.  She’s just now getting over it.  We’ve been about as useless as a pair of mittens in the Florida Keys.  We started to wonder just how much snot our sinuses could produce.  OK…a little too much information?

While we were being useless, Harry power-washed the house and fence, painted the trim work, and replaced the screen on our back porch.  I’m so glad we hired him.  He did a great job at a good price.  It took him 7 days and I’m sure it would have taken us 7 weeks.  He works by himself so he uses a lot of ladders.

The house looks like new on the outside if you ignore the roof.  We do not plan to replace the shingles.  The neighboring houses also look like that.

This has gotten us motivated to do some yard work.  I pruned the roses, a crape myrtle, and cut the monkey grass while Gin pruned a tree.  She really couldn’t breathe good at all.  That hill in the back yard gets steep after a while.

Next month we’ll have 50 bales of pine straw put out around the house.  The grass will be turning green then and I’ll put out some weed and feed to make it look good.  We plan to put it on the market in May or June but we still have some touch up painting to do inside not to mention Yard Sales.  We’re having a little trouble getting motivated but I don’t think that’ll be a problem.  We’re going to the RV-Dreams Rally in April.  Talk about motivation!

Thanks for dropping by, and enjoy each day of your life’s journey by finding beauty in the ordinary.

We've found that it is hard to get motivated, too. Winter weather seems to suck the ambition out of us sometimes. Glad we're not the only ones suffering from this.

Your house looks beautiful from the pictures. I'm sure you'll find it hard to walk away from it as we're finding, or at least until something else breaks!

We'll motivate each other at the Rally. :c)

Everyone keeps telling me the work is all worth it.

Getting rid of things is a pain.

Yeah, the Rally should get you going. ;-)

Looking forward to seeing both of you there.

It does take awhile to get your energy back after having that sinus crud. You have got the outside looking good as new. We should start having our garage sales again real soon.

Maybe our houses will sell really soon after putting them on the market and we can all be on the road before the end of the year!!!

The house and yard are looking great! At some point, it just all comes together and you're almost there. By the time the Rally is finished, you'll be so pumped the last few things will get done very quickly :)

Ours went on the market in January, got a contract in February, and will close in less than two weeks. Whoo hoo! Then, it is full-timing baby! Just an idea that I will throw out there that worked suprisingly well for us. a week ago today, I sent an email to all of my friends that live locally with a link of pictures of the things we had to sell. Folks came last weekend, and we sold almost everything, down to a truck and a car. We just placed sticky notes on things with the price and no one tried to talk us down, cause it was priced to sell. It was very enjoyable seeing our friends and bringing them up to date on our plans. Plus, it was up to them to move it out, and we have very little left that we will store.

We will be at the rally, too!

So sorry to hear you were both sick. SO GLAD you didn't have the stomach virus that I got way too familiar with.

Hope to be on the road house or no after the rally. I'm to the point where it can just sit there.

All I need is TIRES!

It's so good to see you post! I was thinking about you all week and was going to email to see if you were ok. We'll be there May 1 to get you motivated, but you'll already be from the rally. I can't wait for you guys to get on the road. The house will sell quickly, it looks great! See ya soon.
