Just a short update on Gin's mom, Judy. She had surgery early Thursday morning for an abdominal aortic aneurism at Wake Medical Center and made it back home at 7:30pm Friday. All went well but the next few days are going to be tough on Judy. Gin and I parked Wanda in their yard on Monday and have been house sitting and dog sitting while her folks were at the hospital. It looks like their new house will be ready next week so we may stay around to help them move a few things over.
I'm planning to take a blogging hiatus for a month or so. If anything exciting happens (house sells, win the lottery, etc), I'll have a little more emotion in my posts. Right now, my heart just isn't in it. We need to get on the road. I will still be reading quite a few blogs and adding an occasional comment or two though.

Cedar Point Tideland Trail and Another Small World

There is a nice hiking trail right beside the cg here that has been cleared out nicely after last month’s Hurricane Irene. It’s wide enough to enjoy a bike ride to get away from the many mosquitoes.
There are about five bridges to walk over the marshy areas. I’m not real sure if it’s legal to fish from them, but I doubt that he was catching anything.
The trail makes a loop so that you come out at the beginning point and is a little more than a mile long. I didn’t walk the whole thing because the mosquitoes were horrendous. I learned from Sherry that it’s ok to follow the same trail back because you see the same things from a different angle. Here’s an example. This bird feeding station was recently added to the trail. See how different it looks.
This little fella was glad that the squirrel guard was working. He wasn’t much bigger than the mosquitoes that threatened to carry me away.
There is also a shallow boat launch right here that will handle kayaks very nicely. A small jon boat would be ok at high tide.

We are in site #37 which is the last site in the cg. It is becoming one of our favorite sites because you have a private patio area and it is close to a water spigot. I enjoyed relaxing with Smudge after checking out the trail.
On Friday after taking Wanda to freshen up at the dump station, the neighbors across the road asked Gin to help them with their vuqube satellite dish receiver. They had noticed that we had ours on the roof and they were having trouble getting reception on theirs. While chatting with them, it was discovered that they not only live near Clayton but they actually live in our subdivision! They live two cul de sacs from us. They have noticed that Wanda hasn’t been in the driveway as much as usual while walking their dogs. Bill and Judy have had truck campers in the past but got a nice 5er this year and enjoy it a lot. Another small world moment in the rving lifestyle.

Nice Unexpected Guests and Relaxing Drizzle

Sunday was a busy day with people leaving the cg. Gin’s folks decided to leave also instead of waiting until Monday so we were visiting with them at their site before lunch. When I went back to our MH, there was a note tucked in our door from Cynthia and Ronnie. They follow our blog and were spending the weekend at their 5er which is set up in Page Place, a nice seasonal park across the road. I gave them a call and they came back over for a visit.
Small world moment, it turns out that they live about 10-11 miles from our house in Fuquay-Varina. Even smaller, Gin’s brother lives in Page Place right beside their weekend getaway. They know Butch but had not put the two of them together as siblings. We enjoyed chatting with them for a while. Cynthia has recently retired as a teacher and Ronnie has over 33 years in with his company so he’s getting close. They had recently visited with Gail and Rick to glean a little info about the fulltime lifestyle. They want to get a MH in the near future to join the ranks. We encouraged them to go to an RV-Dreams Rally to meet others who want to enjoy the freedom that only fulltime rving offers.
Today started slowly for us but we decided to go to the shore for a couple of hours. We even took grumpy little Smudge with us and let her get her feet dirty in the sand. No pictures because it was very overcast. As a matter of fact, it began to rain as we drove back to camp and will probably rain for the next two days. I feel a pajama day coming up real soon.
