Cedar Point CG (site #12)
Croatan National Forest
Cedar Point, NC
This is one of our favorite places because it’s close to the beach, only 4 miles from a public oceanfront park in Emerald Isle, and there is so much water centered activities to enjoy here. We arrived Tuesday afternoon and the camphost, Julie met us as we pulled in. She told us that we timed it just right because they were going to start using a reservation system starting today (Wed). It had always been a first come, first served system before. We paid for our two weeks, and we have a nice site next to a water spigot. My brother and SiL, Doug and Carla, are planning to camp here this weekend. I hope they can get the site beside us but any site will be nice. Here’s our spot, site #12.
Since we are planning to be here a while, we’ve set up a little more stuff than usual. This site has a nice open lawn area behind it so we got out our ladderball game and practiced a bit. It’s a lot like horseshoes. Boy are we rusty.
My sister and BiL, Virginia and David, live kinda close by in New Bern and they are planning to come over for the day on Saturday. In the meantime, we plan to relax and enjoy each day of our life’s journey by finding beauty in the ordinary.

Do you intend to get the kayaks wet while you are there?
It looks like a great place.
I know you guys really like it there. We have got to visit and see what brings you back again and again!!
You now have all the time in the world to sharpen your ladderball skills, but I do think Gin is a little too close to the ladder ;o)) Don't get too good or we won't be playing ladderball at Cheraw!!
Have fun and enjoy the family!!
Looks like a nice site. You two are having a great time, thanks for sharing it with us.
Hi there
Dan and I are going to be at Cedar Point in November and December! Will need to get your recommendation on campsites - will talk more at Cheraw. See you then. Dan and Tricia
Don't worry about the kayaks. They will be getting wet soon. This place is on the White Oak River right where it enters the sound.
I cracked up about the ladder being so close to Gin. We need lots of practice but she was throwing it at the other one.
Yes we are having a ball acting like we are full timers. It's right for us.
Most of the sites are about the same, but if you are ok with 30 amp, we like sites 10 and 12 the best.
Looks like a great place to be. I love anything close to the water :)
That is one awesome campsite! Enjoy you stay.
I'm wondering if these new reservation systems are going to hurt fulltimers? I'd hate to think that there is not going to be any drive up first come sites anywhere, anymore.
I couldn't hit the ladder, even standing as close as Gin. Hand-eye coordination is not one of my strong points...I'm too well practised in the foot-in-mouth techniques!
I got a little excited when I saw the title of your post, as we're going to Cedar Point (Ohio) this weekend! But you're still in N.C., I see. It does look like a nice campground, though.
Hope things pick up with the house sale . . . we're still waiting, too!
I loved Cedar Point when we were there last September. Sorry to hear about the reservations system. That's a bummer. I hate making reservations but you end up on the short end of the stick a lot during the summer if you don't.
TWO WEEKS in ONE place is a fabulous idea. Now if I could just get David to do it!!
Looks like a great place to spend a couple of weeks. Have fun.
